Finding Beauty in the Everyday

There’s a routine I’ve come to value because it keeps my eye sharp and keeps me creatively engaged. After I drop my daughter off at school, I like to spend the first hour or so of my day driving around Great Bend, nearby towns, and the backroads in between, simply paying attention to what stands out. It gives me a chance to step away from the daily noise for a bit and settle into a quieter, more grounded place.

When you live in a small town, it’s easy to become so familiar with your surroundings that you stop really seeing them. Things you pass every day can start to disappear into the background. This little routine helps me push back against that. It reminds me to notice the details, the light, the mood, and the ordinary places that still have something to say when you slow down long enough to look.

By doing this, I’m not only strengthening my perspective as a photographer, but also building a deeper connection to the place I call home. From time to time, I’ll be sharing more posts like this one, quiet visual stories of places many of you will probably recognize, but maybe haven’t seen in quite this way. Thanks for taking a look through a few of my personal snapshots.
